Ages of leaders of the young rider classification and wearers of the white jersey

Here's an overview of riders who led the Tour de France's young rider classification.

This ranking doesn't tell you everything about who was the best young rider. Not only are all Tours before 1975 not included, but the rules have also changed several times. For example, Ullrich could lead the young rider classification in the 1996, 1997, and 1998 Tours, and he did so in 55 of the 66 stages. But in Steve Bauer's time, that was only possible in the first Tour, and Bauer led the young rider classification in 17 of the 23 stages, making it difficult to compare. This list also doesn't tell you how often the white jersey was awarded, because that didn't happen between 1989 and 1999. And it doesn't tell you everything about who wore the white jersey most often during a stage, because the jersey moves up when a rider leads multiple classifications.
